Take the leap!

I took a deep breath

And closed my eyes.

Spread my wings,

And prepared to dive.

Nervousness and excitement,

In equal measure.

Felt a shiver,

Shake my feathers.

How do others,

Gather the guts?

To jump out,

They must be nuts!

Nerves overwhelmed,

I broke into a sweat.

I was gonna give up,

My mind was set.

But as I gave up,

And started to turn around,

I realized something,

I wasn’t the first outward bound.

Others would have also felt,

Jitters like this.

But they were out there,

So why should I miss?

Took another deep breath,

And closed my eyes.

Spread my wings,

And prepared to dive.

I took the leap,

And went down like a bullet.

Realized that a meeting,

With the Creator was set.

The ground was rushing up,

And I was going down.

In the roar of the wind,

My scream was drowned.

But suddenly, my wings spread,

And I was flying onwards.

Soaring above the ground,

Just like the other birds.

This was simple, this was beautiful.

Why was I so scared?

I realized anyone could do this,

If they just dared!
